David Ellefson's BASSTORY Tour at The Shamrock Pub - 11/25/18 - Waterbury, CT

David Ellefson's career has no short of accomplishments, obviously the most known to people is his time in Megadeth for over 35 years. David is a magician with a bass guitar, his licks as well known around the world, and his knowledge of music is indescribable. We had the chance to catch up with him before the Waterbury date of his Basstory Tour and talked about all of the projects he has going and what keeps his head level on a day to day basis. Check out the interview here: DAVID ELLEFSON chats with Inside The Setlist

What is BASSTORY?

David told us that throughout his career, he's learned so much and that in different parts of the world during Meet & Greets, people would ask so many unique and meaningful questions, that he would start a Spoken Word tour, well that blossomed when he hit Australia and decided to take it World Wide. On this leg, he confided in labelmates (EMP Label Group) Dead By Wednesday to complete a full band.

David has a full cast and crew of talented musicians to make this a very memorable show. Opening the evening was a local band to each area, ours being Crossing Rubicon, from Bristol, CT. A heavy metal outfit including Frontman Scotty Anarchy and former All That RemainsBassist Jeanne Wawrzyniak. This band rocked their early set in front of an already packed house. Check their sites, they've got an album set to be released in April of next year!

Next up were EMP's own Dead By Wednesday, who played a righteously powerful set of metal originals and jaw dropping guitar riffs by their new gutiarist Dave Sharpe and some wild double bass by none other than drummer "Opus" Lawrence. They filled about 45 minutes of insanity, in your face, melt the shirt off your skin hits. They also have an album set to be released in early 2019.

Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal, mainly known as the former Guns N Roses guitarist and his work with recently formed Art of Anarchy was up after Dead By Wednesday. He played an intimate set while sitting with his doubleneck guitar, one completely fretless. He had a backing track so he had the full band sound, while he rocked all the guitar parts. The crowd got up close and personal and he took some requests as well.

The time for David Ellefson was now, he addressed the bar full of 250 or so people, and immediately slammed into some tracks from Megadeth's Rust in Peace. After three tracks, he was joined on stage by his partner Thom Hazaert (EMP) for some vocals and Opus from DBW on drums. David slowly formed a full band, as Opus would stay behind the kit the rest of the evening. Playing over 15 insane bass driven hits from Megadeth, Guns N Roses, Iron Maiden, and many more, this was a seriously fun set to see in person. David was joined by DBW Guitarist Dave Sharpe, DBW Bassist as guest vocalist Mike Modeste, as well as DBW vocalist Rob Roy, and Earth vocalist Ray Sylvestre. This ALL-STAR cast of musicians had an incredible vibe together and made flawless moves on this last night of the tour.

The next leg of the BASSTORY tour will be for a handful of dates in Florida, where DBW's Opus & Dave Sharpe will be joining as well. Be sure to catch this tour if you can, see the video interview with David, and check out the newest music by all the bands!
