Evanescence returned to Mohegan Sun Arena on Sunday, April 19th on the final stop of their brief tour which featured the band back to their standard rock format. At the show's end, Amy Lee vowed that we have not see the last of them and I have to say that we can't wait. Evanescence rocked the roof off the arena and gave the fans a night to a remember. The set featured 18 songs with no breaks. The energy from song to song remained and kept fans going through a straight hour and a half.
Amy Lee is still a powerhouse vocalist with amazing showmanship. Her stage presence grabs fans by the throat and keeps them at attention all show. You can see and feel her energy in every song and note she sings. Her all-powerful voice and commanding presence has not missed a beat after 16 years of being in the spotlight. Amy Lee was still the spotlight! Evanescence's current lineup features Jen Majura on guitar, Troy McLawhorn on guitar, Tim McCord on bass and Will Hunt on drums.
For me the night was one to remember. This was my first time finally experiencing the band live and it lived up to my expectations fully. With no opening act, they played a solid hour and half. A fairly simple stage up, but featuring some elaborate lighting throughout the set was just right. The sound was tight and her voice mixed well the backing vocals. I was a bit disappointed that Amy sung "Bring Me To Life" solo and felt a little cheated, but overall it still was a fan favorite. I also feel that the rest of the band was always just there in the background and I wish they would have played more of a role.
