I know I normally write a column about band recommendations, but I feel it is time to highlight live music as a whole, and how we should support it. Whether it be a bands/musicians who play original music or bands/musicians who play on the local circuit and opt to recreate classic songs.
Live music should be celebrated and supported by music lovers far, wide and world over, as well as the talented musicians who play, work hard and are undeniably passionate about it. I particular like bands who play covers, while making the songs their own by adding their unique touch and giving new life to what are already timeless classics.
If you follow me on social media, you will know that I am big fan of a band in the local area called Essencial Rock Band. I am literally their number one fan, or some might even say, cheerleader haha. I go to see them play as much as possible because they bring so much passion and talent to the stage. You are able to forget life's troubles or worries for a few hours and live in the very moment with them. Their talent exceeds them, and any other "cover" band you will see. They are out of this world, immensely talented, professional and bring their own individuality and feeling to the audience.
Open your eyes a little wider to see something that might have been in front of you the whole time staring back right at you.........
But, supporting live music doesn't stop at the local music scene, it goes beyond to a galaxy far, far away in the shape of the national music scene, where there is an abundance of bands who release original songs. The music industry is tough and these bands need as much support as possible to keep the industry alive and add further longevity to it. People always say that rock and roll is dead, I can tell you it most definitely is NOT, but you just need to know where to look for it, or even open your eyes a little wider to see something that might have been in front of you the whole time staring back right at you.
There are so many national bands out there, but I want to give a special mention to The Electric Alley, who I love with all my heart and who keep me alive. So, the least I can do is make sure to support them 100%, go to live shows, buy merchandise, and make sure they get to live the life they truly deserve.
The band radiate talent, are something very special and you can feel their passion and emotions flowing through in to their music. Their live show is one of the best I have ever been too (and this is coming from a lady who has been to A LOT), they put their heart and soul into everything they do, and they are another band you can go to see live and forget life for a few hours, and lose yourself to the music. They are literally the best (non blood related) family a girl could ask for.
Wherever you may reside, I highly recommend that you go and check out your local and national music scene because you never know what could be waiting for you.....
